Above are the amusing comments left by some anonymous reader to my previous post about Ram and my support to UPA for issuing such statement. I am a Hindu by birth but I am not very proud to be called one, because the purpose any religion is to unite people and make their lives more enjoyable. I bet Hinduism was doing the same and is intended to do the same now, but we divided our religion into multiple casts and even barred some of the casts from entering temples. I reckon for any religion temple is a place to show your unity and show your goodness to the world, there every one should be equal which is not true in our temples. If any hindu temple is not restricting people based on their cast, they are dividing them based on their financial capacity( The best example is TTD).
Coming to these comments "If you take away RAMA and Hinuism from india all that left will be ashes", I really don't know what to say about these comments, because the comment itself is a big joke. Let me explain. Even considering Mr. Ram existed and he was a good king, what have we learned from him except making him a political figure and destroying integrity of this country over his temple. If Mr. Ram was the person, people had described him, he would never accept anything like this to happen in this country, he might have rubbished Ram Sethu issue even he had built it him self. Ultimately the goal of any good king is to give good to people and his country.
I still stick to my opinion about the government's short lived claim. It's bad that they had to eat their words over this issue. I repeat my statement that "Hinduism is not a religion, its a way of life". All the hue and cry over Ram Sethu is a political gimmick and its not at all an issue. We have much bigger problems to solve in this country like education and child labor. Let me conclude this post by saying, "I am hindu and I will be an hindu for my life treating Hinduism as a way of living life".
You don't believe in Hinduism , fine but don't talk badly about it , Have you read Alex Hele's book "Roots" , do read this book after that you can talk about hindu religion ,also it is not just history part of it , see the environmental implications to it.You have a right to agree/disagree but first read everything about Ram sethu by visiting this link : www.ramsethu.org , do read all the links and sections,after that if you want to disagree you can disagree but i strongly recommend you to read all the links coz half knowledge dangerous.

ReplyDeleteFor your kind information, I have never been ill treated as I belong to the upper cast and I have all the privileges to buy poojas (lol) in temples when ever I had to go with my family. I don't even care if the sethu was built by Ram or not, if you can do something good to this country by cutting that so called sethu, I want it to be done.
ReplyDeleteGovernment is trying to building canal between Indian and Srilanka to reduce the distence need to be traveled by ships. My only concern about this project is environment and sea population. If the environmental damage is real I will also oppose.
Why are you so emotional? Be practical man.
Government already have six other options. Still it want to destroy the sethu built by Rama. Govt.'s decision hurt the sentiments of hindu folk.

ReplyDeleteI'm more practical n rational than you , i have friends from all castes n religions , yes , i do admit some of them were ill treated during a particular time period in history ,yes still discrimination exists here n there , but not as you have projected it out tobe , these divisions are not just in our religion alone,,see iraq and iran i would be happy if you are against religion itself(whether hindu..,islam....et al) , ..What i want to say is " IF AT ALL THIS PROJECT IS SO IMPORTANT IT CAN BE BUILT WITHOUT DISTURBING THE RAM SETHU , THERE ARE MANY OPTIONS , BUT THE GOVT. Hello Aruna Madam, please don't talk like a communist why rich people need to be looted if they made their fortune in a right way. Please don't argue that there is no right way make a fortune. Coming to your point on child labor stuff and education, why the political parties are not doing the same, they are ready to unite people and raise funds to organize road blocking and bharnas. why are they not doing the same thing for under privileged child's eduction and destroying the child labor system? because they will not get votes by doing that.

Exactly my point, Sethu is just a cause I have taken to reflect how foolish we think and how easily we can get emotional. I bet congress is going loose many votes in next general election because of this issue, irrespective of the progress they have made developing this country(its totally a big and different discussion).

I think the changes the Govt wants (nuclear deal, this change of the canal) is for benefit for all.

ReplyDeleteAs you mentioned, if cutting down ram seth is good for nation, then I won't oppose the thing done by Govt of India, but at the same time I wanted to ask one question to congress goverment, what is their stand on improving standards of people who are paying taxes, but cutting down Ram seth won't bring properity,instead change the political system,and the judiciary system ( rewrite the whole judiciary) . can congress govt can issues statement like this on Muslims. Mohammad prophet is not born on this land, there is nothing there here which of their religion can they ask muslims to leave the country. I am not against any religion or community but major invasions are caused against Hindus. why the discrimination?
Ashok one thing i will agree with you whenever there is an issues like these, political parties should think wise and stop all the dramas they are doing on roads, there are people in india who earn roti on daily basis, if you do bandh's or Darna's they are indirectly causing trouble to the people, for them no god come and help them.
Hindus are the one who are always target for these kind of things, i doubt some day hindus will become minority.
If we keep quiet on such issues, that is going to happen in few days. But to condemn the govt acts we should move in peaceful way rather than doing hungama. By these activities only political parites are gaining.
Whether Rama existed or not nobody knows, Religion is a belief, why to break that and hurt people, instead Govt can come up with proper reason for demolishing the Rama Sethu.
If Hindus keep quiet ..this anti hindu parties will even say hindus don't exist...
